Blasting Hash at Home is a Bad Idea

By Warren Edson

I didn’t know this needs to be said but apparently it does:  blasting hash at home is a BAD IDEA.

Not only is blasting hash at home dangerous to yourself, anyone else who lives in the home, and your neighbors, but it could also end up with you spending time in prison. YIKES!

Colorado Revised Statute §18-18-406.6 (1) says:

It shall be unlawful for any person who is not licensed pursuant to Article 10 of Title 44 to knowingly manufacture marijuana concentrate using an inherently hazardous substance.

The statute, §18-18-406.6 (4), further defines an “inherently hazardous substance”:

An “inherently hazardous substance” means any liquid chemical, compressed gas, or commercial product that has a flash point at or lower than thirty-eight degrees Celsius or one hundred degrees Fahrenheit, including butane, propane, and diethyl ether and excluding all forms of alcohol and ethanol.

What does this mean:  It means that Blasting hash at home is a Class 2 Drug Felony, a DF2, my friends!

And what is a Drug Felony 2?  A DF2 carries with it a sentencing range of 4 to 8 years in prison with a mandatory 2 years of parole.  Fines range from $3,000 to $750,000.  WOWZA!

The Cliff Notes version?  Blasting hash at home is a very very bad idea.
